The Rock Island Parks Department finally decided to put some work into the field at Ridgewood (they decided to till it for us ). The problem with that is now we have about 3 inches of loose dirt on top of the infield. Since we have seen a VLB'er almost break his leg on a freshly tilled Veteran's Field, we figured that the best thing would be to not play on Saturday. However, we do ask that those of you that were planning on playing still come to the field and help us rake the infield and get all of the loose weeds out of the dirt so that our infield isn't green anymore. If you are coming please let us know and bring a rake (preferably metal) and help us out. We appreciate all of the help that we can get.

Hey, I was helping Joe Zerull make a movie today, sorry I couldn't help out. Who all showed up? How does it look? Is the infield playable?

Just letting everyone know that this fall probably starting in september we're going to start playing flag football. We play regular football rules with the exception of no tackling. Anyone interested in play contact me at tonyzier@yahoo.com or Josh Paul. We will either be playing on saturdays around 1000 am or during the week around 530 pm.

Yeah, I was a little disappointed to hear that.
Nonetheless, I'm hoping to get out there Wednesday or Thursday to see if we can get it raked up a little bit. That rain should have hardened it once it dries, but how it hardens is going to be another story since there were some pretty decent trenches left in the dirt.
If anyone is interested in checking things out, give me a call. Kilgard and I were up there Tuesday. It was muck after that rain. Hope it dries by Wednesday.
