All right friends, let's do this winter meeting/party thing.
-When: Monday, March 23
-Time: 6 p.m.-whenever
-Where: Veto/Apodaca house: 2630 Davenport Ave., Davenport, IA, 52803. (everyone knows how to use GoogleMaps, right?) It has a screened in front porch and a lamp post in the front yard.
-What to bring: Some cash. We'll take a collection and order some pizzas at 6:30 p.m., so be there on time if you want to eat. Also, bring any video games you think people might like to play after the meeting. We have all major formats from NES to XBOX 360, except for PS3.
I will be posting many more details of the meetings as the week progresses, but I wanted to get the date out there so people can plan.
I want an actual, dedicated meeting this year, so that means we need to have an agenda. I request that folks send me some ideas ... anything ... that come to mind concerning how we can make the league better or more organized. I will compile that agenda, and distribute it to everyone.
The one thing I can say as of now is everybody on the board is "fired." ... The economy has put a strain on our donut budget, and I can no longer afford to keep you on board for glazed goodness...
In all seriousness, I have been told over and over that I need to delegate, so I am going to do that, and hope that people respond.
I am developing new job titles with actual duties that help the league run. Most of this stuff was split among 2 or 3 people, but I envision as many as seven titles. These are open to anyone, not just our veterans, because I want the most dedicated guys on board.
Those who accept my recommendation to these positions, or request a job, will be doing an enormous service to the league and to my health. I just can't do everything anymore.
In addition to that, those who take a position will be given voting power when it comes to VLB proposals -- purchases, rule changes, etc.
More on that later.
In the mean time, I have finally written a night game story, which if you got here, you probably noticed. Have a read. I actually put some effort into it, and I think it's a nice reflection of what happened that night.
Baseball is in the air, folks...
