My apologies to all VLB rookies but I didn't feel that first year players deserved to be on the list. Play next year and maybe you'll make it. Also, apologies to the VLB's first power hitter Scott Boruff. He didn't play enough in the "Stat Era."

Isn't that sweet, voting for your brother.
I don't know who to vote for, I haven't been playing long enough.
Obviously Veto created the league so that alone would make Most Valuable Veto League Player, because none of us would be here with out that. But I can't vote for Veto, because I don't think Veto would ever vote for me.
You can't vote for yourself Ashley hasn't really played a whole lot since I've started Kiel screwed me out of a triple (and the cycle) last year when I pulled my hamstring...and I'll never forgive him for that (I'm just kidding Kiel) I don't really know Lance, but since I've been playing he hasn't really shown up Escajeda is pretty good, but he always seems to be on a losing team Don't know who Steve Roberts is Carlson good guy, seems to get frustrated pretty easily Ellefritz - I really enjoy playing on his team...even though he yelled at Pat Hintz once for getting doubled up on a pop fly. Barton - you can't vote for yourself
I'm going to vote for Ellefritz because i really like playing on his team and he once told me that I was the best first baseman to ever play Veto league and that was awfully nice of him.

OK, so now I have to defend myself.
My vote might have been for my blood, but it is a legitimate pick. He was "THE" VLB first pick for 2 straight years because as well as hitting the crap out of the ball, he played stellar defense. Besides, I could've voted for myself and not thought twice about it.
Now to that so-called triple that I screwed Bobbo out of. I seem to remember outfielders who couldn't pick the ball up off of the ground and cut-off men who couldn't catch the ball. OK, maybe it was a little harsh for VLB standards and if we would've had use of instant replay I may have made a different ruling, but I have to stand by my call, 2B-E8.

I was just playing with you Kiel....that being said, just because an outfielder can't pick the ball off the ground doesn't mean it is an error.
And I was at third base before the cutoff man missed the ball. I'm a giant baby aren't I? It's just that fat guys don't get a lot of triples. I really don't care.
Truth is I could've voted for almost anybody up there and felt good about it. I just voted for Elle because he told me I was the best first baseman that has ever played VLB and that was nice. I really enjoy playing on his team because he never gives up. I don't know who the best is, we're all good at different things, so it is hard to measure.

Super Bob, I enjoy your comments about each veto league player, However, I did not vote for myself. Afterall I am not that type of person I did say i voted for veto right? ? Anyway It is real tough to vote for the best ever since I have not been in this league very long either. but without veto we wouldnt be playing right?

I apologize Barton, what I was trying to say was I can't vote for myself since we are practically the same player (you're definately more mobile than I am), but both hit for power and average, both pretty good first basemen etc.
I knew you voted for Veto. Sorry I didn't clarify.

I voted for Lance, because there hasn't been a player in history that has provided such a combination like he did. He was a great player back in the late 90's and 2000/2001 season. Yet he provided the most humor and always had a good time. There wasn't anyone who represented what Veto League was about more than Lance McCafferty. The rivarly between the King Cobras and Veto and the pulling of 5 balls foul....you can't beat it. MLB went through the Barry Bonds era...and VLB went through the Lance McCafferty. VOTE McCAFFERTY IN 06!!!!

My vote goes out to Kiel. Since my VLB debut in '03, Kiel has been the most dominant player. Give Bob a couple more years and he could very well take it, but Kiel's career stats are amazing. He's got over 50 more RBIs than any other player. He's 2nd in runs scored. He's either at or near the top in every major offensive category. He's productive no matter where you put him in your lineup. Plus, he plays solid defense. You'll rarely see him make an error in left, and he can play a strong SS if called upon.
I debated about voting for Steve Roberts because he's possibly the only player I would draft before Bob Zerull. Roberts has made more than one unbelievable play at SS and can hit the ball a mile. And best of all, he's always hustling.

Though I can't truly say I wouldn't pick Roberts over Kiel, I am the chairman of this league, and I decided to choose a combination of talent and character to make my decision. While Roberts hustles, I have trouble forgetting his standing at first base, not moving, because he said he wasn't out of the baseline, though significant proof demonstrated otherwise. He has since apologized, but it was a difficult time for me.
Secondly, him not being here much since then, I must go with Kiel. He's an all around package with fielding and hitting. I'm pretty sure he's overtaken me in career hits and must be nipping at my doubles record. He knows how to captain a team and we'll be a good new rivalry with Lance retiring.
While Bob said I wouldn't vote for him, I will be considering that in the future. I have seen Kiel play since '99, so I have much less to base on. Bob is challenging Ashley for the most first pick honors. It would be difficult for me to ever pass him up. The one time I did when he had a bum leg, he dropped two bombs on me and I lost in game three of the playoffs. You've got it now Kiel, but Bobbo is close behind. I mean seriously, who hits a ball over the resevoir. Longest, and fastest ball I've every seen leave a bat in person.

I appreciate that Veto thanks. I hope you guys know I'm just joking around with everything above. I'm not trying to be mean or anything. I would have liked to see JP on the list, because he is a former MVP and a solid all around player much like Veto and Ellefritz. As for racing Ellefritz and whoever else...Not going to happen unless the next contest is between me and Ellefritz and it is to see who can drill the pitcher the most without an L screen. Any volunteers? Thanks for the L screen whoever was part of paying for that it. I'm not scared of killing anybody anymore.

Thanks for the L screen whoever was part of paying for that it. I'm not scared of killing anybody anymore. Bob, I believe the proceeds that helped us in purchasing the L-screen should be partially credited to your wife and sister . You should thank them more than anyone (though I think I know Bob well enough that he won't thank either). They did an awesome job selling consessions at last year's night game. Veto would have to confirm it, but I believe all the money we made off consessions went straight into the VLB fund, while all the money from donations and raffle tickets went toward JDRF.

Josh Paul I think it is safe to say you know me well enough that you put that extra comment saying I won't thank them, just so I will. Good job sir. While were on the topic of thanks, you're welcome for my extra kind comments above stating that I believe you should be on the list of best evers. ;D I really hope I'm not coming off as a jerk in here, I'm just bored at work having some fun. I read back at some of my previous posts and realized if you read those wrong you could get the wrong idea.

Bobbo, believe me, you don't have to apologize or explain yourself. I can't imagine anyone taking this seriously or getting upset. Worry not my friend. Watch... Carlson is a thingy. I think he's cool with it.
